Redwood1890-20150126-_DSC8030_DxOWalking on the Big Sound provides a practical demonstration of ‘plate tectonics’. Because ice takes up more space than the corresponding amount of water there is pressure between the various ice plates in the Big Sound as the water continue to freeze. Something has to give.  This ‘fault line’ runs from Two Mile Point off of Parry Island to the North Shore Rugged Trail. (January 2015)
